The much-anticipated Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, a collaboration between iconic eyewear brand Ray-Ban and tech giant Meta, are set to launch in India on May 19th. These AI-integrated smart glasses will be available for purchase starting at ₹29,900. Pre-orders for these innovative wearables have commenced today on Ray-Ban’s official Indian website.
Blending classic Ray-Ban aesthetics with cutting-edge artificial intelligence, these smart glasses empower users with hands-free capabilities for asking questions, streaming media, and communicating via voice commands, all powered by Meta AI. The glasses will be offered in two sizes of the signature Wayfarer design and a new Skyler model, presented in a stylish Shiny Chalky Grey color. Versatility is key, as all styles are compatible with sun lenses, clear lenses, polarized options, and Transitions® technology, and they can also accommodate prescription lenses.
A Meta spokesperson highlighted during the launch, “These glasses represent a fusion of iconic style and advanced AI technology. They are designed to help people stay connected while being more present in the moment.”
Equipped with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a five-microphone array, the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses enable users to capture high-resolution photos and record up to 60 seconds of 1080p video. Sharing these moments is seamless, with direct integration for posting to Meta’s platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Live streaming directly to Facebook and Instagram is also a built-in feature.
The audio experience is enhanced with open-ear speakers that deliver improved bass and increased volume, promising richer sound for music and calls. Hands-free communication is facilitated through the “Hey Meta” voice command, allowing users to effortlessly send messages, make calls, and control music playback.
A particularly useful feature is live translation, currently supporting English, Spanish, French, and Italian, with offline functionality. Through the companion Meta AI app, users can also edit photos captured with the glasses. Future updates are expected to include direct messaging and calling via Instagram, along with support for popular music streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses offer a battery life of up to 4 hours on a single charge, which extends to 36 hours with the charging case. They also boast an IPX4 rating, providing protection against water splashes.
As the smart wearable market in India continues its rapid expansion, the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are positioned as a premium and stylish option for consumers seeking a blend of fashion and advanced technology.
